Vibes & Virtues is a strategy-based conversation card game you can play during the event.

Playing is optional — but it's a powerful way to connect and earn Vibe Tokens.

Wagering Vibe Tokens

Want to raise the stakes? You can wager Vibe Tokens during Vibes & Virtues rounds.

Before guessing, the lead player may wager tokens.
Others may match or sit out.
If the lead player guesses enough correctly, they win the pool.
If they fail, they lose their wager.

Wagering is optional. Playing without wagering still earns tokens.

The basics

One player is the lead each round
The lead must play a question card first from their hand by placing it face up
Everyone else votes secretly by placing their Yes/No card facedown
The lead guesses how people voted
If majority of the guesses are correct, the lead player discards a card. If not, they must draw a card.
Specialty (non-question) cards can be ONLY played if the lead player is able to discard a card. If they don't have specialty cards, they must discard a question card. After the play is over, it is the next player's turn
First player to discard all their cards wins

You don't need to know every rule to start playing.

About Vibe Tokens

Vibe Tokens are NOT earned by finishing rounds or winning games.

At Wildcard events, tokens can be used optionally to wager during gameplay — just to spice things up.

Optional: Wagering tokens during a round

A player may gamble their desired amount of Vibe Tokens when placing their YES or NO card facedown. Gambled tokens must be placed to the side of their facedown YES or NO card.
The lead player may choose to accept the bet and match the same number of tokens before guessing.
If the lead guesses correctly, they keep ALL the tokens
If the guess is wrong, the other player keeps ALL the tokens

This is optional — play without tokens if you want.

Echoes of the East is May’s original Wildcard theme from the 2024–2025 cycle. It explores the influence, resilience, and cultural contributions of AAPI communities while reflecting on the parallels that exist across marginalized experiences — particularly within Black culture. Through themes of identity, tradition, perception, and connection, the work invites participants to consider how culture travels, evolves, and resonates across communities in ways both visible and unspoken.

Wildcard turns participation into value through themed prompt cards that physically build the artwork.

One rule to know

Each puzzle piece has multiple prompt cards.
ALL of them must be completed and pinned.
If one is missing, that piece stays unplaced.

How prompts and Vibe Tokens work
You earn Vibe Tokens only by completing prompt cards. Each prompt is tied to the theme of its puzzle piece. Some prompts ask you to reflect. Some ask you to talk to someone new. Some ask you to step outside your comfort zone.

Puzzle Built

How the puzzle is built

The puzzle is built collectively. Everyone is completing prompts at the same time — racing the clock to reveal as much of the image as possible.

What's happening right now

People choose different puzzle artworks
Prompts are completed across the room at the same time
Completed prompt cards are pinned to the board
When ALL prompts for a piece are finished, that piece can be placed
The timer decides how much of the image is revealed
This is a team effort

Each puzzle piece has multiple prompt cards. They can be completed by different people. Only when ALL of them are finished does that puzzle piece get placed on the wall.

One missing prompt means the piece stays hidden.
The timer is counting down.

Every prompt finished before it ends brings the group closer to revealing the full image.

We may place every piece. We may not. The image tells the story of participation.

How to Complete a Prompt

Choose a face-down prompt card beside any puzzle piece. Each card will ask you to:

✍️ Write
Write a short response. No essays.
🗣️ Speak
Talk with someone nearby. Introduce yourself.
🚶 Act
Do the action. Ask a witness if needed.

Complete the prompt, then pin your card inside the outlined space for that puzzle piece.

How pinning works
Each puzzle piece has a clearly outlined shape on the board with its name visible. Pin your card inside the outlined area that matches your puzzle piece.
There's no wrong answer. Engagement earns Vibe Tokens.

What happens next

When all prompt cards for a piece are completed, the artwork can be placed.

If any are missing, the piece stays unplaced.
